Vascular Outreach Program

The Vascular Outreach Program aims to provide patients with financial aid for the creation of an Arteriovenous Fistula (AVF) for their haemodialysis needs. A vascular access is surgically created vein used to remove and return blood during haemodialysis. An arteriovenous (AV) fistula is a connection, made by a vascular surgeon, of an artery to a vein.

WHY THIS PROGRAM

Patients who are dialyzing on catheters often do so for a myriad of reasons. Some are on catheters while awaiting the creation of an AVF at MOH hospitals whilst others have no financial means to get an operation, resulting in patients being on catheters, sometimes for years. In general, catheters carry a higher risk of infection, which can sometimes be fatal. DaVita is a leading kidney care provider in Malaysia. We strive to continuously improve our service and also patient experience. We are committed to ensuring that the best care and quality services are delivered to our patients, and we uphold the best medical practices for better clinical outcome. We believe this initiative will be beneficial to many of our patients who are financially challenged, especially in this pandemic of COVID-19 in which many of them have lost their source of income and are unable to afford dialysis.
