Sago Gula Melaka


  • 4 cups water
  • 1 pandan leaf – tie into a knot
  • 1 cup sago – soak in water for 30 minutes then drained.

For Sauce

  • ½ cup evaporated milk

For the Syrup (To be mixed together)

  • 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pandan leaf – tie into a knot
  1. Boil water with pandan leaf. Add food colouring if necessary.
  2. Add sago, stir and cook until sago turns transparent. Switch off heat.
  3. Drain sago and wash under running water to drain off starch.
  4. Pour into a container. Let cold inside fridge for 30 minutes.

For the Syrup:

  1. Cook sugar with water and pandan leaf until sugar dissolve and water thickens. Strain syrup if necessary.

Instructions to Serve

  1. Remove sago from container.
  2. Pour syrup and 3 tablespoon evaporated milk.
