Apam Kampung
  • 3/4 cup wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon yeast
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  • 3 1/2 tablespoon grated coconut
  1. Mix all ingredients, except grated coconut, in a bowl.
  2. Beat mixture until texture becomes smooth and not lumpy.
  3. Grease a container of 24cmx13cm for baking.
  4. Pour mixture into the container. Set aside and let to rest for an hour.
  5. While waiting, prepare steamer and boil water.
  6. After an hour, place container into a steamer and steam for 40 minutes. Do not open lid of steamer during steaming.
  7. After steaming for 40 minutes, remove container from steamer and let appam to cool to room temperature.
  8. Remove appam from container and cut into 8 parts.
  9. Sprinkle half a tablespoon of grated coconut on each part of the appam and appam is now ready to be served.
